Preferences - Dictionaries

Introduction

Controls the type of dictionary used in HotDog. To edit your Dictionary Settings:

1. On the Edit menu, select Preferences submenu.

2. Select Dictionaries on the tree view of the Preferences dialog.

Selecting a Dictionary

You can select one or more dictionaries, based on different languages, for use in the HotDog spell-checker.

1. Click on the check box to the left of the desired language in the Dictionaries preferences screen. A tick will appear in the check box, meaning that this dictionary has been selected for use by the HotDog spell-checker.

2. You can also de-select dictionaries by clicking on the appropriate check-box so that the selected dictionary's tick disappears.

3. When the desired dictionaries have been selected, click on the OK button to dismiss the preferences screen and save your preferences.

4. Restart HotDog for the spelling preferences to take effect.

Installing New Dictionaries

You can add to the list of dictionaries in the Dictionaries preferences screen by following the steps below.

1. Go to the HotDog Professional 6 download page at: http://www.sausagetools.com/professional/download.html

2. At the bottom of this page you will find links for several dictionaries supporting different languages.

3. Click on the link for the dictionary that you wish to download.

4. After the dictionary installation file has downloaded, double click on the file to run it.

5. After the installation process has completed, you will be able to select the new dictionary from the Dictionaries preference screen in HotDog.

Note: It may be necessary to restart HotDog 6 before the new dictionary will appear in the Dictionaries preference screen.
